Privacy notice

How I look after your information.

This notice explains what happens to the details you share through this website. Information you share within counselling itself is covered separately in the agreement we make together at our first session.

Who I am

I’m Anne-Marie Watson, a therapeutic counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). For the purposes of data protection law I am the data controller for the information collected through this website.

What I collect through this website

The only personal information this website collects is what you choose to send me through the contact form: your name, your email address, a phone number if you add one, how you’d prefer to meet, and your message. The website does not use analytics or advertising cookies, and it doesn’t track you.

The typefaces used on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers. Google may record technical details of that request, such as your IP address. You can read Google’s explanation here.

Why I collect it and the legal basis

I use the information you send me to reply to your enquiry, to arrange a free consultation, and, if we go on to work together, to arrange sessions. The legal basis for this is my legitimate interest in responding to people who contact me, and your consent, which you give by sending the form.

How your information is stored

Messages sent through the form are emailed directly to my private, password-protected inbox. They are not stored on the website itself and are not shared with anyone else.

If you don’t go on to become a client, I will delete your enquiry within [six months]. If you do become a client, your contact details will be kept as part of your counselling records, which are handled in line with my client agreement and the BACP’s Ethical Framework.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what information I hold about you, to ask me to correct it, and to ask me to delete it. You can do any of these by emailing me at any time using the contact form. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

I may update this notice from time to time. This version was last updated in September 2026.
