About me

Hello, I’m Anne-Marie.

I’m a person-centred therapeutic counsellor working with adults in St Leonards-on-Sea and online. Here’s a little about how I work, my training, and who I work with.

How I work

Person-centred, which means you come first.

I believe you are the expert on your own life, not me. My role isn’t to diagnose or direct, but to offer you a relationship where you feel genuinely met: with warmth, without judgement, and with real curiosity about your experience.

Being person-centred also means I will show up in our sessions as my authentic self, and accept you exactly as you are, with whatever you want to discuss.

As a person-centred therapist I believe that, when we learn to trust ourselves better, the answers often arrive as if we’d known them all along.

Beyond words

If you would like, we can also experiment with drawing or working with objects as an alternative to talking. This can be a useful way to explore emotions or thoughts on difficult issues when words feel hard.

Training & registration

Qualified, registered, and always learning.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am a registered counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

This means I am committed to the principles and values set out in the BACP’s Ethical Framework. If you would like to learn more about what that means, you can read about it on the BACP website.

Additional training

I have undertaken further training in a range of topics, including:

  • Neurodiversity
  • Supporting adult carers
  • Chronic illness
  • Bereavement
  • Difference and diversity
  • Anti-oppressive practice
  • Addiction
  • Gender, sexuality and relationship diversity

Experience

Supporting people through all sorts of experiences.

I have been practising at The Old Bank, a community counselling practice in Hampden Park, since 2025, supporting people through a wide range of experiences, including anxiety, depression, grief and losses in all their forms, anger, addictions, relationship breakdown, life transitions, domestic abuse, loneliness, shame, low self-esteem, and difficulties with attachment and belonging.

Everyone is welcome here

I welcome clients of all genders, sexualities and relationship styles, including those who are LGBTQ+, kink-practising, or in ethically non-monogamous relationships. This is a space for you, as you are.

Sunlit oak leaves, warm and bright

I’m not here to fix you, rather to walk beside you and support you to find the best way forward for yourself.
